Meatbreak Echoing some of the themes from his Werendia and Forest Shrine projects, (absent of all the BM elements), this second release from Iskall is a serene balm of cool, crystalline ambience, enveloping drone and nostalgic, hauntological melodies, evoking reminiscence of the snow-bound pine forests of an ancient future. As a genre that relies so heavily on nostalgia, Dungeon Synth as a genre has some hard limits. However, when done right, it can really just draw you in. Forest Shrine just does everything right here. The music does a great job at visualizing a winter landscape in all of its stark beauty and I suspect enjoying this in the snow will make it even better. 3.5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
